Canadians Shawn Mendes, Grimes and A Tribe Called Red lead the field with four nods each.

The 2017 Much Music Video Award nominations were unveiled on Thursday, and Canadians Shawn Mendes, Grimes and A Tribe Call Red lead the field with four each.

Close behind with three nominations each are Alessia Cara, Drake, Ed Sheeran, a former MMVAs host, Lorde, PUP, The Weeknd and Zeds Dead. Mendes will compete for best pop video with “Mercy,” while Grimes will contend with “Venus Fly.”

The MMVAs, last year hosted by supermodel Gigi Hadid, will be held once again at the Much Music headquarters in Toronto. The most buzzworthy international artist category this year will see a face off between Sheeran and Iggy Azalea and Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga and Lorde.

Performers Arkells and Niall Horan each picked up two nominations, while DNCE, Iggy Azalea, Imagine Dragons, Jazz Cartier and Post Malone nabbed one each. The 2017 Much Music Video Awards will be handed out on June 18 in Toronto.

Performers for the event include Imagine Dragons, Jazz Cartier, Julia Michaels and Post Malone. The Canadian video awards show provides a platform for the U.S.-based iHeartRadio, formerly known as Clear Channel, which last year signed an exclusive pact with Canadian broadcaster Bell Media to launch its brand in Canada.

The MMVAs will air live on the CTV and Much channels.
