It’s happening! It’s finally happening! After years of speculation, and a ton of teasers from Kevin Feige, Marvel is at long last moving forward with a Black Widow solo movie. Praise be!
According to reports, the studio has hired screenwriter Jac Schaeffer to work up a script for the spinoff adventure, with Scarlett Johansson in place to don the catsuit one more time. Now before we get too excited, the project doesn’t have an official green light at this stage, but the hiring of Schaeffer does indicate that it’s closer than it’s ever been.

No details have emerged regarding a potential plot, or indeed, timeline. One possible option would be to tell a prequel story covering one of the Widow’s pre-Avengers covert ops, so don’t take this news as a guarantee of her surviving Infinity War…
Hopefully Schaeffer can come up with something compelling enough to get this one officially greenlit. In the meantime, we can look forward to seeing Johansson in action again when Infinity War hits our screens on 27 April 2018.
