Thank U, Next: Everything You Need To Know About Ariana Grande's Iconic Music Video

To celebrate her in all her glory, we’ve hunted down some hidden Easter eggs you may have missed from the thank u, next music video. Honest to GOD, knock us out because she’s blown our minds once again…

It’s no secret that Ariana has been killing the game lately. With sweetener debuting at number 1 on the Billboard 200, making it her THIRD number 1 album so far, and ‘thank u, next’ becoming her first number one single EVER – it’s safe to say Ariana is the queen of the pop right now.

But if you thought her reign was over, think again. Because It’s only just beginning. Her latest conquest? Breaking the Youtube record for most views on a video in 24 hours, accumulating a whole 50 million views, knocking K-pop supergroup BTS off the top spot. As of now, it’s got over 90 million views and rising.

AND she broke the Vevo record for most simultaneous viewers… 829,000. Breaking two world records at the same time? What? Like it’s hard?

To celebrate her in all her glory, we’ve hunted down some hidden Easter eggs you may have missed from the thank u, next music video. Honest to GOD, knock us out because she’s blown our minds once again…

What a moment in stan Twitter this was. Remember when ‘thank u, next’ dropped and Apple Music wrote that the lyric was ‘her name is Aubrey’ instead of ‘her name is Ari’. Fun times. If you didn’t know who Troye was referencing when he said ‘I heard she [Ariana] is a lesbian now and dating some girl called Aubrey’, we don’t know you.

UMG

That’s right. If you see Big Sean running at any time from now on it’s safe to assume it’s because he’s seen the message next to him in Ari’s burn book and is on his way back to her.

Ari tweeted before the video came out that Mac would not be in the Burn book because he ‘ain’t in the book he next to my bed’. She also looks up to the sky when singing ‘Wish I could say thank you to Malcom / ‘Cause he was an angel’. We may or may not be crying. But Ari is SO sweet for doing this little tribute to him.

In the book, Ariana writes under Pete’s page the word ‘HUUUUGE’, and if that isn’t a reference to the whole big d*ck energy rumour then we don’t know what is. She also wrote ‘sorry I dipped’ in ref to her ending their engagement. Well, you win some you lose some, Pete.

Ariana’s T-shirt in the Regina George Mean Girls segment is actually a reference to a new song of hers entitled ‘Needy’, a song that fans discovered off of the leaked tracklist for Ariana Grande 5. Can this girl stop teasing us for five seconds? WHERE IS THE ALBUM? WE NEED THE DAMN ALBUM.

If you look closely, you can see the dollhouse has a room from each movie inside. Mean Girls, Bring It On, 13 Going on 30 and Legally Blonde all make an appearance inside the tiny house. Find the Ari doll sitting in the tub with her short haircut in reference to when she took out her extensions and every media outlet thought she cut her hair. The attention to detail in this video is EVERYTHING.

For all the OG Ariana stans that knew her back in her Victorious days, you’ll have noticed a few familiar faces popping up in the video. Matt Bennett appears next to Ari as the Cliff to her Torrance in the Bring It On section, Liz Gillies appears in the Mean Girls section as the Cady to Ari’s Regina, and Daniella Monet appears also appears as a cute cheerleader in the Bring It On segment. Ari really blessed her OG fans with this reunion. We don’t deserve her.

New music? Ariana revealed on Twitter that the instrumental at the start of ‘thank u, next’ is actually the instrumental of her new song: 7 Rings. You can also find Ari as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde segment driving a car with the number plate ‘7 Rings’. This girl really can’t stop giving us music. We’re living for it.

UMG

Legally Blonde’s GPS delivery guy has his nametag changed to ‘BDE’, clearly because he resonates such a huge Big D*ck Energy. This has well and truly killed us.

Oh, and catch Ari literally ‘thank, u next’ing her OWN song by asking manager Scooter Braun if she could drop another song already. We love an impatient queen.

BRB. Blasting thank u, next until further notice. We literally could not have asked for a better music video. Thank u, Blessed.
